How the UAE Theory Test is Scored
The UAE theory test uses a straightforward scoring system. Each correct answer earns one point. There is no negative marking โ a wrong answer simply scores zero. Your final score is the total number of correct answers, which is then compared against the pass threshold for your emirate.
Results are shown immediately on screen after you submit. If you pass, you will see a green result and can proceed to your practical training. If you fail, you will receive a breakdown by topic showing which areas need more study โ use this to target your revision before retaking.

Tips to Pass the UAE Theory Test
Know the Exact Fine Amounts
The test asks for specific AED amounts โ not ranges. Memorise the key fines: AED 1,000 for red light, AED 400 for no seat belt, AED 800 for mobile phone use, AED 2,000 for dangerous driving.
Learn All Road Signs
Road signs make up a significant portion of the test. Focus on the difference between warning signs (red triangles), mandatory signs (blue circles) and prohibitory signs (red circles).
Target 85%+ in Practice
Don't book your real test until you are consistently scoring 85% or above in mock tests. This gives you a comfortable buffer above the pass mark and accounts for nerves on test day.
Do at Least 5 Mock Tests

Answer Every Question
There is no negative marking. Never leave a question blank โ if you are unsure, eliminate the obviously wrong answers and make your best guess from the remaining options.
Use Your Own Language
The test is available in Arabic, English, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam and more. Taking it in your strongest language reduces misunderstanding and gives you the best chance of passing.
