How to Book the RTA Theory Test in Dubai
Enrol at an RTA-Approved Driving School
You cannot book the theory test independently in Dubai. You must first enrol at an RTA-authorised driving institute. Major approved schools include Emirates Driving Institute (EDI), Belhasa Driving School, Dubai Driving Center, Galadari Motor Driving Centre, and Al Ahli Driving School.
At enrolment you will need: Emirates ID, passport copy, eye test results, and passport-size photos.
Open a Traffic File
Your driving school will open a traffic file with the RTA on your behalf. This creates your official learner record in the RTA system and is a mandatory step before any test can be booked.
Complete Mandatory Theory Lectures
Attend all 8 mandatory hours of theory lectures at your driving school. These cover traffic rules, road signs, vehicle mechanics and safe driving principles. Attendance is tracked โ you cannot skip any session.

RTA Dubai Drive App โ download on iOS or Android. Enter your date of birth and learning permit number, choose a date and pay by card.

The theory test fee in Dubai is AED 200 per attempt. Payment is made when booking โ online by card, or at the driving school counter. There are no refunds for failed attempts.
Attend on Test Day
Arrive early at your test centre. Bring your Emirates ID and your appointment confirmation (digital or printed). The test is computer-based with a touch screen. Select your preferred language before starting.
You have 30 minutes to answer 35 questions. You need 23 correct answers (65%) to pass.
How to Book the Theory Test in Abu Dhabi
Enrol at an ADDC-Approved Driving School
Register at an Abu Dhabi Driving Company (ADDC) approved driving institute. You will need your Emirates ID, passport, visa copy, eye test results and passport photos.
Complete Theory Classes
Attend all mandatory theory classes at your driving school. These must be completed before you are eligible to sit the theory test.
Book via TAMM or Your Driving School
Book your theory test through the TAMM platform (tamm.abudhabi) โ Abu Dhabi's official government services portal. Alternatively, your driving school can book on your behalf.
Pay AED 200 and Attend
The Abu Dhabi theory test fee is AED 200 per attempt. The test is 45 questions in 30 minutes. You need 32 correct answers (71%) to pass.
